FAQs

Your Questions Answered

Do I need a referral/prescription from my physician?

No, you do not need a physician referral to be seen by a licensed physical therapist (PT) in New Jersey.  NJ has Direct Access which allows clients to seek care from PT's without having to see a physician first.  Seeing a PT first can save both time and money by receiving treatment for your aliment sooner.  By performing a thorough evaluation, PT's can identify the cause of your symptoms and can begin to address it.  We are also trained to recognize red flags and medical conditions/complexities which are out of our scope of practice, so that we can refer you to a physician when/if necessary.

What can I expect on my first visit?

Prior to your first visit I will email you a link to a HIPAA compliant health portal called Healthie.  Once you create your account, you will the have access to my "welcome packet," which includes information on myofascial release, documents about The Healing Journey, and medical history forms. When you come in for your first session, we will sit down and discuss your health information in detail.  I will then perform a thorough evaluation, beginning my search for how to partner with you on your journey to optimal health and wellness.  You will receive treatment at your first session.  Since myofascial release is a hands on treatment performed directly on the skin without oils or lotions, I ask that you DO NOT use any body lotions on the day of your session.  It is also preferable that women wear a pair of shorts and bra or sports bra, and that men wear a pair of shorts when being treated.  You are free to change in the office or the restroom prior to your session.

Do you accept insurance?

The short answer is no, however, this is to your benefit!  Unfortunately insurance companies place many rules and limitations on the type of treatment you can receive, the body part that is 'allowed' to be treated, and the number of sessions allotted.  By taking the insurance company out of the mix, I can partner with my patients to make sure we are making the best possible health decisions for your unique situation!!

If requested, I can provide you with an invoice that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement (I can not guarantee reimbursement).

Payment is due at the time of service and is payable with all major credit cards (including your HSA/FSA account), in cash, check, Venmo, or PayPal.

How many sessions will I need to reach my goals?

There is no set answer to this question because every-BODY is unique!  The more MFR sessions you can do up-front the better!  It will help to "teach" your body how to make lasting changes!  Healing is not linear, there will be ups and downs along your journey.  Like many things in life, what you put into MFR is what you get out!  In-person MFR sessions coupled with an individualized at home self-care program has the power to change your life in profound ways!
